I went through 2 impellers on my last pump, worn out from clogging too many times (even when used with a skimmer). So far, it looks like this is the kind of pump I should have been using all along. No problems handling the type of debris in our pond. It pumps it up to the top of a waterfall where there is a settling/bio-filter tub, which is much easier to clean. The pump has only been running for a few weeks now, but no clogs so far. I could only go a few days before needing to clear the skimmer attached to the last pump and I would frequently have to back flush that system.
